Sending video and photo via Webdrop
If you need to send video or photos to RFA, you should use the Webdrop facility. It is a simple, drag-and-drop ftp process, anonymous and requiring no other tools than your Web browser.
However, the process is different whether you use IE6 or IE7. It does not work in Firefox.
Using IE6:
1- Make sure you are in Internet Explorer 6 (and not FireFox). To find out which browser version your computer is using > Help > About Internet Explorer >
2- Save the file (mp3, wmv etc.) on your desktop.
3- Type the following address in your browser: ftp://techweb.rfa.org/webdrop
4- Drag and drop your file into the open page. No need to login or type a password. Make sure you wait for the file to be fully uploaded to close the window.
Using IE7:
1- Make sure you are in Internet Explorer 7 (and not FireFox). To find out which browser version your computer is using > Help > About Internet Explorer >
2- Go to Tools; select Internet options, select Advanced, check the box Enable FTP folder view, click OK. Note: You will have to do this only once.
3- Save the file (mp3, wmv etc.) on your desktop.
4- Type the following address in your browser: ftp://techweb.rfa.org/webdrop
5- You will see, in a new window: “FTP directory /webdrop at techweb.rfa.org To view this FTP site in Windows Explorer, click Page, and then click Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer." Follow the instructions: > Page > Open FTP site in Windows Explorer A new window will open.
5- Drag and drop your file into the open page. No need to login or type a password. Make sure you wait for the file to be fully uploaded to close the window.
Note: As soon as you refresh your screen, the file will not be visible to you any longer, but it is there and it is visible to the administrator of this folder.
5- Send an email to RFA, providing the following – very important - information: - Your contact information - Name of the file - Who, why, what, when and where of the video or the audio file.
